ALS Funding Manager

Southwark College, part of NCG, is looking to recruit an experienced ALS Funding Coordinator to lead the coordination of Additional Learning Support funding claims for learners aged 16-25 and oversee the effective deployment of classroom-based Learning Support Workers. The role will support both our discrete Supported Learning provision, where learners aged 16-25 are taught in small groups of 8-10, and learners with Education, Health and Care Plans who are completing vocational courses in the wider college setting. Our Supported Learning students have mild to moderate learning needs.

Based at the Southwark College site, in The Cut, close to Waterloo Station, the successful candidate will be part of a large team of Supported Learning staff. We have excellent resources and a modern suite of classrooms.

This role is central to ensuring learners with additional needs receive timely, high-quality support and that the college secures and evidence funding accurately, consistently and in line with statutory and funding requirements.

The main duties of the post holder are:

• Lead and manage learning support provision for students with additional learning needs, disabilities, or complex support requirements.
• Line manages Classroom-based Learning Support Workers, including recruitment, absence management, performance management, communication, and day-to-day deployment.
• Ensure students’ needs are identified, assessed, recorded, and met, including support planning, transition arrangements, alternative assessment, induction, mitigation, and advice/guidance.
• Manage and monitor support funding and compliance, including High Needs Funding, Additional Learning Support, Disabled Students’ Allowance, record keeping, audits, GDPR, and internal/external regulations.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, external partners, and support services to improve support processes, deliver training, raise awareness of SEND needs, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
